...this How To describes how to create a Map out of provided data from Magnetimarelli for a Formula-E Race day
Step-by-step guide
- check that all file made it to your local folder : NYC.poi , BaseMap.klm , NYC.cvs (you might need to rename the provided files to match our naming convention)
- create a file called SectorDistances.csv (create fitst a .txt file and rename to .csv later) and enter the distances for the two sectors (normally shown on the pdf file provided from the association):
- open the RTAP Server open the 'Event/Session...' from the 'Configuration' tap (you might have to create a new event in case none is available)
- select the event and click on the 'Map...' button in the lower third of the window; a dialog will open up and ask you to specify the .poi file (NYC.poi)
- after hitting 'open' RTAP will ask you to convert the MM Track Map into the .kml format:
- confirm this dialog with 'Yes'
- 3 warnings will popup:
- confirm all 3 with 'OK'
- open RaceWatch and open the open the 'Load Track Map...' dialog from the 'Circuit' tab, select the created NYC.kml file
- the circuit should show in the 'Track Map Viewer' window, right click and select the 'Show Map Controls', zoom to a suitable level
- check the map for consistency
- cross check the map with last years (or any other) RaceWatch archive:
- open the 'Load RaceWatch Archive' Dialog from the 'File' tab and select the archive .txt file
- slide the timeline into the racing periode and see if the cars follow the track map.
- voila; that's how it should look like:
- Open RaceWatchMS in 'control mode' (more info here )
