Replay a race using RTAP

Replay a race using RTAP

It is possible to replay a RaceWatch or RTAP log via RTAP to simulate the race in real time.

To do this, go to Replay > Race Watch Log... and select the desired log in the file browser.

There are a few playback options available:

Load entire log

  • click 'Load Whole File'

Play from the start of log

  • Select 'Skip Time From Log Start'
  • Enter 0, 0, 0 in the time text boxes
  • Click 'Start Replay'

Play from a given duration into the log

  • Select 'Skip Time From Log Start'
  • Enter the desired time to skip forwards in the time text boxes
  • Click 'Start Replay'

Play from a given time

  • Select 'Jump to local time of day'
  • Enter the desired time to skip forwards in the time text boxes
  • Click 'Start Replay'

Once RTAP has started replaying the log, users can connect to it via RaceWatch, just as they would live.

To stop playback click Reset.

Notes

  • Track map files are not broadcast when replaying logs, so they must be manually loaded into RaceWatch (via File > Load Track Map...) before connecting to RTAP.
  • Due to inconsistencies between local time and replay time there may be some bugs in some timing dialogs when using this functionality. Please report any to us and we will aim to fix them.
  • It is possible to stop and start the playback using the Pause and Resume buttons, step through the log one message at a time using the Step button, and adjust the speed of playback using the slider. These functions mess with the timestamps further so are more likely to cause buggy behaviour. Use at your own risk!
